John Mays is a professional dancer living in Los Angeles. He began his dance training in Russian ballet at age 5 in his home town of Portland, Oregon. By age 12, he was training and competing in all commercial styles, including tap. John was a member of the Hollywood Vibe Company, where he toured the United States performing and assisting, and in 2022 was honored as the Senior National Dancer of the Year. John can be seen in the television comedy “CHAD” on TBS; he starred in an Xbox commercial for Microsoft, and he is seen tap dancing in a Mini Cooper commercial, broadcasted on multiple platforms. Most recently, John worked as a dancer and actor in the feature film ‘A Big Bold Beautiful Journey’ directed by Kogonada starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell. Another passion of his is teaching. John enjoys spreading his love for tap dance, and has done so for various dance studios in Oregon and Southern California. His style of choreography has an emphasis on rhythm, groove, and dynamic movement. In addition to teaching tap, John continues to develop his career with goals of working on Broadway, touring with major musical artists, and helping others to embrace the joy of dance.
