If you are in Act 1 of any show, you must arrive 45 minutes before the show is scheduled to begin in full costume, hair and makeup. You will be given instructions at Dress Rehearsal where to check-in. If you are in Act 2, you must report backstage at the beginning of the intermission before your Act. You will be given instructions at Dress Rehearsal where to check-in.
Back-stage Mothers only stay with the students from the beginning of their Act until they perform. Once your child has performed, you must retrieve him/her from the stage door. If your child is in more than one dance, a parent or guardian must come backstage to their child’s designated area after their dance and assist their own child to change. No Dads please in the girls changing areas. There will be separate boys and girls changing areas.
Please only get up from your seat between numbers and not during a dance, the person next to you’s child may be performing.
Dressing-Room Etiquette
Dancers must respect other dancers’ space and property in the dressing rooms. The dancers will spend more time in the dressing rooms than onstage, so please do your best to keep them organized and clean. No food or drink is allowed in the dressing rooms except water. While in the Dressing Room area, RDC will provide dancers with water and small non-messy snacks.
1. Check the website to make sure you know which tights, shoes and other accessories your child will need for recital – get your supplies early.
2. Students will need extra rest the week of the recital; it is a long week.
3. Come into the Studio more frequently the month of May for any instructions given out at the end of your child’s dance class. Check the website and Recital Bulletin Board frequently for updated information.
4. For the Recital, carry costumes in the provided garment bag with student’s name. Label your tights & shoes. Prepare a make-up case with the needed make-up, hair-pins, Band-Aids etc.
Parents or guardians may videotape or shoot photographs of their children at the dress rehearsal. Due to the large number of cameras, no electrical outlets will be available, so be sure your batteries are fully charged. Please note: No video or photography will be allowed at the recital. Security guards or ushers will ask you to bring any cameras back to your car.
Auditorium Rules
No eating, drinking, or smoking is allowed in the auditorium or dressing rooms. When they are not onstage, dancers must remain in the dressing rooms with their back stage moms until ready to be picked up by their parent or guardian.
Indoor theatre etiquette is different from an outdoor sporting event.
Courtesy is contagious. If the adults practice courtesy, the children will learn from that.
Please remain seated while performers are on stage.
The use of camera or video cameras is PROHIBITED during the show.
Please turn off all cell phones and pagers during the performance.
No food or drink is permitted in the auditorium. No smoking is permitted in the building.
Please present any flowers or gifts to performers following the show. Do not approach the stage at any time during the show.
Family members and friends don’t belong backstage or in the dressing rooms during rehearsals or the recital. The same applies during intermission and after the show. There is a lot of backstage activity in a limited space, and dressing rooms are a private area. Please remind your family and guests to be respectful of these areas. Those who wish to greet a performer after the show or present flowers should do so in the lobby areas.
Props
All props are the property of Revolution Dance Center and are to be returned to the backstage prop master after the performance. Props include such items as canes, parasols, beach balls, etc.
