PART 5: Dress Rehearsal
Friday, June 13, 2007 --3:30 to 8:30 p.m. – CV High School

Participation in the dress rehearsal is mandatory. The dress rehearsal allows the students to become familiar with the auditorium surroundings and feel comfortable with their performance, costume(s), and being onstage. Lighting, music cues, set changes, and all other logistics for an organized and professional performance are rehearsed so that the students make the best impression possible. We have also included a diagram of the MacDonald Auditorium area so that you will have a better idea where to go for dress rehearsal and where to drop off/pick up your dancer on recital day.

Remember dress rehearsal is a “full dress rehearsal.” This means students must do hair, make-up as designated and dress in full costume.  The purpose of dress rehearsal is to make improvements to the recital dances and costumes. Sometimes dances and costumes look different on stage. Therefore,

Mrs. Julie Kay or one of the teachers may make changes to costumes, staging etc. during the dress rehearsal. This is not done to offend anyone, but to improve the appearance or quality of each and every dance and to make the recital run smoothly.

1.    Detailed arrival times will be included in the April and May newsletters (and posted on the RDC website), including which costume to wear first if you are in multiple dances.

2.   Come to Dress Rehearsal in your first costume.

3. Doors will open at CVHS for dress rehearsal at approximately 3:15 pm.

4.   When you enter the auditorium, look for your first dance’s sign and sit quietly in that row. Stay in your row until you are called on stage. Do not sit on the floor in front of Row A, in front of the stage or in the aisles. In order for the rehearsal to run as quickly and smoothly as possible, younger unsupervised siblings and friends should not come to the rehearsal. We appreciate dancer and parent cooperation.

5. At the beginning of each hour/age group – Mrs. Julie Kay will provide instructions. She will introduce the Back Stage mothers, RDC staff members and recital helpers and will call up the groups to the front of the auditorium who will be in the first group to rehearse. You will also be told where to check in when you arrive on recital day.

6. Students may watch rehearsal until their numbers are called to the front. After each number, the teacher will inform the group if they will rehearse again or if they are dismissed. If you are dismissed, you may change into your next costume quickly and then return to the audience for further instructions. If you have completed your last dance, you may go home. YOU MAY NOT LEAVE

THE THEATER UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN DISMISSED BY YOUR TEACHER.

7.  If you are disrupting the rehearsal, you may be asked to leave.

8. No food or drink is permitted in auditorium, except water. Bring snacks for your child if they are there for an extended time period. There will be times when you will have enough time to go outside to eat. Just make sure you check with the RDC staff.

9.   Videos & picture taking is permitted only at dress rehearsal.

10.   The rehearsal usually lasts 5 hours.  Remember, students may arrive & leave when they are instructed to. Most students do not have to stay the entire time unless they are in multiple dance numbers.

Parents – please make sure that you pick up your child PROMPTLY after their rehearsal time. We do not have the facilities or the staff to watch children who are not on stage.
